The $10,000 College Degree

Just when I am underwhelmed by the man, word comes that Rick Perry has instructed his educators to come up with a plan for a $10,000 college degree. All four years for one set, and comparatively affordable, price.

I like that idea! Reduce the cost to the student. And, if more education is warranted after four years, then they can purchase the next level.

But down the road, the best way to deal with the high cost of college education is to reduce it! And Texas governor Rick Perry has thrown out the gauntlet by demanding that his regents come up with a plan for a $10,000 degree—not $10,000 per year but $10,000 for a full degree.

Of course college is not for everyone, such luminaries as Bill Gates and the late Steve Jobs were not college graduates. There are alternatives.
