Of course, that sixties television show would have been perceived to be endorsing recreational drug usage if Dr. McCoy was popping little pills (yellow pills?. what color is smart?) before each diagnosis, or during each operation. Not that a full out space campaign openly promoting drug usage could have had much effect to increase the seemingly omnipresent consumption of illegal pharmaceuticals back then, but it would have been frowned upon. To no effect, I might add, for today we have the same practices and no end in sight. So much a part of our culture, in fact, that it won't surprise when they are made legal; the only question left seems to be when?
